[Avinox has taken the electric mountain bike market by storm, with brands rushing to adopt its powerful motors and riders seemingly unwilling to settle for anything less. But are we forgetting what makes a great mountain bike in the first place?](https://www.bikeradar.com/features/opinion/canyon-…ctral-on-avinox-m2s-motor)
There was a time when buying a mountain bike was relatively straightforward. You'd look at the geometry, suspension, components and, of course, how it rode.
For electric mountain bikes, however, it seems the conversation has shifted. Increasingly, the first question isn't about the bike itself, but what's powering it...
No Avinox, no future? Anyone following the discussions surrounding current e-mountain bikes might get exactly that impression. We therefore often ask ourselves: Does every manufacturer now need a bike with Avinox – or, more importantly, the courage to do without it? After all, the true quality of a bike is determined on the trail, not solely by the motor in the frame.
Who will have a bike with Avinox in 2026?
Avinox is growing rapidly: In April 2026, the drive system manufacturer already boasted more than 60 industry partners. At Eurobike, Avinox showcased bikes from 19 partner brands at its own booth. Current market overviews now list around 30 bicycle brands with Avinox models. These include brands such as Amflow, Atherton, BH, Canyon, Conway, Corratec, Cube, Commencal, Crestline, Crussis, Ducati, Forbidden, Megamo, MMR, Mondraker, Nukeproof, Olympia, Orange, Pivot, Propain, Raymon, Rotwild, Steppenwolf, Teewing, Thömus, Unno, Whyte, and YT.
As of October 2026, some of the major brands not yet using Avinox include Ghost, Giant, Focus, Haibike, Lapierre, Merida, Santa Cruz, Simplon, Specialized, Transition, Trek, and Yeti.
